Dr. Garrett Lum was born and raised in the Bay Area (Castro Valley). He graduated from the California State University, East Bay with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry.
Dr. Lum then moved to Boston and was introduced to the incredible “lobster roll” which kept him around the city for six years. There, he attended Tufts School of Dental Medicine.
After graduation, Dr. Lum relocated to Arizona as his wife finished Medical School. Once his wife finished Medical School, they moved to Sacramento, California Now they live on a small farm with their two boys, llamas, goats, mini pigs, and chickens. Dr. Lum enjoys anything outdoors, but his true passion is fishing and camping where he can connect with nature.
Dr. Lum is a member of the Arizona Dental Association (AZDA), California Dental Association (CDA), and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD).
Dr. Lum finds pediatric dentistry very rewarding. With all the fears children have and are just now discovering the world, he understands that coming to the dentist can be a very scary experience. It is his goal to try and alleviate these fears. Dr. Lum finds that his easy going personality coupled with a funny sense of humour can get these children through their appointments. Once all is said and done, most children say “that wasn’t so bad” and they look forward to coming back the next time. This is the main reason why Dr. Lum became a dentist and chose to focus solely on treating children.
